Shelly started her career in veterinary medicine in 2000 at a small emergency veterinary hospital in Corvallis. An Oregon native she has always loved animals and as a child was a collector of stray cats. She has 2 associates degrees from Linn Benton Community College and became a certified veterinary technician in 2008.
Between 2000-2015, Shelly worked at multiple veterinary hospitals in the Albany/Salem/Corvallis area, including the Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Oregon State University. In 2015 Shelly made the move to the greater Portland metro area and worked at another prominent local hospital before joining the Brooklyn Yard team in July of 2025.
In her free time Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids. She also enjoys, hiking, gardening, houseplants, and fantasy novels. When she’s not working she’s taking care of her german shepherd Griffin, yorkie Beetle, and old man chiwienie Sammy. She also has a scottish fold cat named Monkey, a bengal/scottish straight cat named, an axolotl named June and bearded dragon named Jupiter.
